What does a doula do?

A doula is a trained professional who provides emotional, physical, and informational support during major life transitions. While often associated with birth, doulas specialize in many areas, including labor, postpartum, and grief.
We are full-spectrum doulas, offering care for the full range of experiences, from childbirth to loss.
We provide compassionate, personalized support, ensuring families feel seen and supported through both joyful and difficult moments. Our goal is to advocate for your wishes and support you in experiencing the birth you've always dreamed of.
What is the Dual-Doula Model™?

The first model of its kind, the Dual-Doula Model™ is a collaborative approach where two doulas work together to support a client or family. This model ensures continuous, personalized care by allowing the doulas to share responsibilities and provide seamless coverage during critical moments.

The Dual-Doula Model™ is central to our approach. It allows us to combine our unique strengths and expertise, ensuring clients receive comprehensive, compassionate care while also allowing for flexibility and sustainability for our team. This partnership creates a stronger support system for families, fostering trust, consistency and holistic care tailored to their needs.
How can a doula help me?

Whether you're preparing for childbirth, adjusting to life with a new baby, or navigating the grief of losing a child, a doula offers nonjudgmental guidance, comfort, and practical help. We’re here to meet you where you are and advocate for your wishes. We provide emotional reassurance, answer your questions, and help you make informed decisions. Whether through childbirth education, physical comfort measures, or simply being a steady presence, we ensure you feel seen, supported, and never alone in your journey.
Do I still need a doctor or midwife?

Yes, you still need a midwife or doctor, as a doula doesn’t provide medical care. Your midwife or doctor is responsible for your health and safety, like monitoring your pregnancy, managing labor, and handling any medical needs. A doula works alongside them, focusing on emotional, physical, and informational support to make your experience as positive as possible.

Having both a medical provider and a doula creates a strong support team. Research shows that having a doula along with medical care can lead to shorter labors, fewer interventions, and higher satisfaction. At the Clark and Delilah Project, we work closely with your care team to ensure you feel confident, informed, and fully supported.
Do I work with one or both of you?

At The Doula Duo, we use a Dual-Doula Model™, meaning you’ll work with both of us as a team. This approach ensures you have consistent support while also giving us the flexibility to provide the highest level of care. You’ll get to know both of us, and we’ll collaborate to meet your needs seamlessly.
Do I need a doula if I have a partner?

Absolutely! A doula complements the support your partner provides, ensuring you both feel confident and cared for throughout the birth process. While your partner knows you best emotionally, we bring expertise in birth—offering guidance, comfort techniques, and a calm presence so they can focus on supporting you. Together, we make a great team to ensure you feel empowered and fully supported.
